even though we re not paladins of pure concepts, the sound we re currently looking to release usually has a raw, kinda primitive and rough around the edges nature. we re definitely not looking for the generic -soul sample meets a 4x4 beat- kind of edit. for this release we challenge 4 of our favorite porto producers to give their unique twist to different samples and sounds of records we love. ranging from upbeat disco rhythms to organic drums and hypnotic g funk melodies this release has it all. we truly believe this is a honest representation of part of the porto music movement that makes us proud.
dego is no stranger on neroli, having blessed the label with various eps as nutmeg in the early 2000s and more recently with monster songs like find a way and don t stop (let it go) as dego & the 2000 black family. this time he comes back solo with a fierce funky double a sider! both songs here show how he is like no other out there!

* seasoned shogun duo technimatic are proud to celebrate 10 years working together with the release of their 3rd studio lp ‘through the hours’. born of time spent behind the boards, on the decks and travelling the world honing their craft, this is their most profound work to date. their first single ‘sometimes’, ‘goodbye kiss’ and ‘all our yesterdays’ are loaded with floor filling nostalgia while the tempo changes of ‘recurring dream’ and stand out ‘resolution’ are thrilling explorations away from the pair’s trademark liquid sound. technimatic fans will rejoice at the sight of previous collaborators appearing. jono mccleery’s devastating ability shines on ‘the nightfall’, while ‘weightless’ ft lucy kitchen is vintage, sublime drum and bass. matt wilson also joins the project as ‘holding on’ finds its feet firmly on the dance floor revealing a fresh side to their production skills. just looking at the three vocal tracks highlights the passage of time in the technimatic sound, seamlessly manoeuvring from classic to current. the grit and swagger of ‘true believer’ matched with the hypnotic lull of ‘let it fall’ give the album a conscious edge to satisfy all tastes. ‘through the hours’ moves harmoniously through sonic timelines appealing to both new and old school heads simultaneously. lastly and most importantly, the music is fantastic. the technimatic sound is as rustic as it is contemporary and after some time away, it’s clearly well worth the wait.
limited to 200 copies, the handmade vinyl cover is painted by sasha sime, thus making each copy unique. hot on the heels of paul ritch s >s.c.u.d< ep, quartz rec welcomes joton for a slamming ep >the fourth d<. the spanish producer and new rhythmic label owner delivers highly effective techno grooves on >the fourth d< and >dark sculptures<, while distant sounds on >different faces< and mystic chants on >diatomic< give this ep a shamanic dimension.
the entire tape was made using a cursed roland sp404 sx, filled with broken beats, warped vocal samples and playful synths and glitches. the sounds range between meditative ambient, lo-fi beats to study to and jungle. the composition is relaxing and zen, but in the meantime will give you enough quirky details to hold on to.
